Asus Transformer Dominating the Android Tablet Market!

from http://enbeeone3.com/

It’s no secret we’re big fans of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer. First off, it’s $399. Second off, it can have up to 16 hours of battery life with its awesome Keyboard dock option. Thirdly, it’s display blows the pants off the Motorola Xoom. Forth, it can be turned into an awesome mobile gaming powerhouse, and connects to PS3 and Xbox controllers. And so on, and so forth.

Anyway, according to Taiwanese English news site Digitimes, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer is a huge hit, and has, so far, managed to ship over 400,000 units since its launch. This makes it the best selling Android tablet in the world currently. Plus, Asus was caught off guard with the sort of demand that presented itself, and retailers and online stores have been reporting stock outages and sell-outs for months now. Potentially, Asus could have sold as many as one million – had they produced enough in time.

Mama Asus didn’t raise no fool, folks. Asus is a very unique company, and has played the razor thin margin game before. They pretty much invented netbooks, and were hugely successful with that, even when every competitor on the planet got involved. It’s their nimbleness, their rapid product development cycle, and their hunger that keep them going. They’ve been doing so well in fact that they’re rumored to be launching one of the world’s first quad core Tegra 3 devices, and are innovating in tons of other cool areas like with their Padfoneconcept.

Super Full Moon - NASA Science

March 16, 2011: Mark your calendar. On March 19th, a full Moon of rare size and beauty will rise in the east at sunset. It's a super "perigee moon"--the biggest in almost 20 years. "The last full Moon so big and close to Earth occurred in March of 1993," says Geoff Chester of the US Naval Observatory in Washington DC. "I'd say it's worth a look." Full Moons vary in size because of the oval shape of the Moon's orbit. It is an ellipse with one side (perigee) about 50,000 km closer to Earth than the other (apogee): diagram. Nearby perigee moons are about 14% bigger and 30% brighter than lesser moons that occur on the apogee side of the Moon's orbit.

"The full Moon of March 19th occurs less than one hour away from perigee--a near-perfect coincidence1 that happens only 18 years or so," adds Chester. Super Full Moon - NASA Science.

4.5 Trillion Dollars

Free Money Collection in Cash

4,500,000,000,000 is a HUGE number! To put it in perspective let's look at in a few different ways: 4,500,000,000,000 is the number of cigarette butts littered each year 4,500,000,000,000 is the amount of natural gas discover recently in Argentina 4,500,000,000,000 is the amount of euros the EU has approved for aid to the banks 4,500,000,000,000 is less than half of the total outstanding debt held by the public 4,500,000,000,000 is the total wealth of the Forbes list of billionaires 4.5 trillion dollars belong to 1,210 people! The Forbes list broke records this year for the number of billionaires and the total worth. Moscow has more billionaires than any other city, the BMOC gained 20.5 billion dollars this past year, Facebook has spawned 6 billionaires and a Russian internet investor is the youngest billionaire (by 8 days over Zuckerberg) at 26 years old! Just think what you or I could do with just a small fraction of the wealth these 1,210 people have! If they were to give away one million dollars to people until it was all gone, there would be 4.5 million new millionaires in the world! Would those 4.5 million people be able to make the same changes in the world as the 1.210 could? I doubt it.....human nature would cause us to spend that money on things for us and/or our families not on the things that would benefit millions more people. Take Bill Gates fro an example.....Bill would be the number one on the list had he not given away $30 billion dollars to his non-profit foundation. Others on this list have given untold amounts of money to help people across the world. Still, just think how much new computer stuff you or I could get with just a small fraction of that money!!

Philips FloatingCushions headphones have you on cloud nine

Philips FloatingCushions headphones, have you on cloud nine
Comfort is certainly the aim for Philips' new SH series headphones, and they certainly have a compelling case. The magic behind these lightweight cans is FloatingCushion, which is essentially just memory foam that seals nicely around your ears for both comfort and reduced audio loss. Simple, but seemingly effective. No word on whether these softhearted headphones will make it to the US, but according to Pocket-lint there will be six of these in total, four of which being a Bluetooth SHB9100 model, an over-the-ear SHP8000, and two folding compact SHL9000 variants (one with in-line remote and mic). Head over to the via link for some hands-on pics.

Sprint's Nexus website is 'coming soon'

Just to throw a little more fuel on the fire, it turns out that directing your browser to now.sprint.com/nexus takes you to a landing site where you're told that "this page will be ready soon." Certainly sounds more likely than ever that Sprint's preparing to launch its own variant of the Nexus S -- and if our sources are correct, it'll be called the Nexus S 4G, likely with both CDMA and WiMAX on board. Interestingly, both now.sprint.com/evoview and now.sprint.com/evo3d -- the other two devices in our rumor three-pack from earlier today -- redirect to Sprint's home page rather than giving you an HTTP 404 error, suggesting they're also real. CTIA kicks off in just over two weeks' time where these things are likely to be revealed, but who knows? Maybe they'll give us a little tease ahead of the show. [Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Sprint announcing Nexus S 4G, EVO 3D, and EVO View tablet at CTIA?

The media -- yours truly included -- has been trying to figure out why Sprint has booked an insane two-and-a-half hour slot at CTIA later this month. That's not the kind of event you throw together just to rehash the devices you've introduced over the last half year -- something's up, and if our source is correct, they're up to something big. First, we're hearing that the carrier will launch the Nexus S 4G from Samsung, and judging from the name, the phone should be something akin to a Nexus S with WiMAX. It seems this one could be either the SPH-D600 or SPH-D720, both of which have recently received certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance, though the SPH-D720 is more likely; the D600 shows WPS support, which is available in TouchWiz-skinned devices but not in stock Gingerbread. You might recall that Sprint came very, very close to launching its own version of the Nexus One before dropping it in favor of the EVO 4G last year, so maybe they're ready to do the deed this time. Next, a couple that we don't have much detail on: the EVO 3D, which is... well, a 3D-capable EVO of some sort. 2011 is certainly shaping up to be the year of 3D phones and tablets, so that wouldn't be much of a surprise. The other unit in the mix is the EVO View, a tablet that we're guessing will shape up to be something of a CDMA-powered Flyer. If this all pans out, it's looking like Sprint could own this show. CES was a bit of a dud for them, you might recall -- the EVO Shift 4G was the only handset announcement there -- so they're overdue. [Thanks, anonymous tipster]

Electric car sales watch: 281 Volts and 67 Leafs sold in US during February

Neither Chevrolet nor Nissan have felt proud enough of their EV sales numbers to list them on their latest press releases, but our colleagues over at Autoblog Green have dug those numbers up anyhow. They make for dispiriting reading if you're an electric car well-wisher, as the Volt's sales declined from January's tally of 321 to an even less impressive 281, while the Leaf closed February with only 67 US sales, down 20 on last month. Upon seeing their previous numbers, we postulated that both cars are suffering from constrained supply, which is likely still the case, but it feels ironic to us that electric vehicles, whose driving experience offers instant torque, are taking their sweet time to rev up their sales.

Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace returns to theaters in 3D February 10, 2012

It's time to mark your calendar Star Wars fans, whether you plan to be first in line to check out the new 3D-converted editions of each movie, protest their rerelease in a new format or just avoid the theater altogether now that The Phantom Menace has officially been slated to return next year on February 10th. The effects guys at Fox, Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic reckon the immersive visuals of each flick lend themselves to being viewed in 3D and the yearly releases of the movies should be good test of both whether a 3D conversion really is worthwhile and if audiences are interested in paying to watch it. Of course, there's also the alternative of just grabbing the Blu-ray discs (original trilogy only, if you so desire) skimming the Red Letter Media review and calling it a day, but we won't get pushy. Extreme addiction

Tragic story from Russia: A 14 year old boy kills his sleeping father with a sledgehammer after his parents took away his keyboard because he was spending too much time gaming. After he killed his father, he made his mother give him back the keyboard so he could game some more. His mother called relatives after the boy finally fell asleep. The boy, a resident of Tuapse, a town in the Krasnodar district is faced with a 10 year sentence.
“On the evening before the murder my brother was behaving as usual, speaking little and playing on his phone”, says the 25-year-old sister of the young murderer. “Then he watched some comedy on TV with my father. He kept on asking when we would all go to bed.” Before everyone left for bed, mother and father said to their son that he was not to play on the computer again that night. It was when Yaroslav began to protest that his mother was forced to remove the keyboard from the computer and hide it in her room. The boy made as if he had accepted the decision and went to bed. Then in the dead of night the teenager decided to deal with his “wrongdoers”. Taking a sledge hammer, he crept into his parents’ bedroom and attacked his father right there in his bed. “The teenager delivered the blows through a plastic bag, prepared in advance in order to prevent himself being splashed with blood”, explained the investigating officer Boris Frolov. “He admits to having planned at first to murder his mother, but then feared he would not be able to deal with his father”. via: http://english.pravda.ru/hotspots/crimes/16-04-2010/113053-computer_game-0
After getting the keyboard back the boy continued to play the game "Gothic", which has a correspondingly sinister plot: the characters of the quest fight with the aid of various kinds of weapons – axes, clubs, hammers, swords, and so on.

Current logo of the National Football League
Image via Wikipedia
Just when I was all gung-ho about my new two year contract renewal with Sprint, this happens:
NFL switches wireless sponsors, Sprint’s out Verizon’s in Verizon is touting its new 4-year wireless mobile deal with the National Football League. The contract ends Sprint’s official NFL sponsorship that ran for five years. A Sprint spokeswoman said cost was a big issue. “We made the decision not to extend the sponsorship after the price-tag reached a point where we questioned the return on our investment,” Melinda Tiemeyer said. She added that the NFL contract does not change Sprint’s affiliation with individual NFL teams such as the Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts and others. Sprint still sponsors the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association. The NFL deal allows Verizon to offer its mobile customers live viewing of the league’s Sunday night and Thursday night games, game highlights video, live radio broadcasts of games, NFL alerts and ringtones, live coverage of the NFL draft in April and other features. via sprintconnection.kansascity.com
