Duke Nukem Forever delayed....Again!

Duke Nukem Forever 2007 teaser screenshot

Duke Nukem Forever being delayed again really shouldn't be a surprize to anyone, but the way they announced this one was very well put together in my opinion:

It's nice to see them keeping it light-hearted and fun. What else can you do really? Every one is used to it and will just slam them anyway, might as well make fun of it your self!

New Bad Company 2 patch June 30th!

Well about damn time!!  There have been some things I have complained about and other things I just scratch my head and go: WTF!! This new patch for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will fix some of the most glaring issues for me.......The helicopter handling is suppose to be better, countermeasures can be fired while flying the helicopter, the Advanced Spotting Scope should work better. The Server Browser has several tweaks like: Servers are sorted into 3 categories: Normal, Modified, Hardcore depending on their settings, and a join queue system when attempting to join a full server. And for the REALLY good stuff:  Toggle/hold crouch is user controllable, Toggle/hold zoom is user controllable, Support for Map Packs so PC gets future VIP maps at the same time as consoles and the coup de gras: I can knife someone in the back again!!! WOOHOO!!! For a complete list of changes follow this link: Client R8/Server R12 update.

Extreme addiction

Tragic story from Russia: A 14 year old boy kills his sleeping father with a sledgehammer after his parents took away his keyboard because he was spending too much time gaming. After he killed his father, he made his mother give him back the keyboard so he could game some more. His mother called relatives after the boy finally fell asleep. The boy, a resident of Tuapse, a town in the Krasnodar district is faced with a 10 year sentence.
“On the evening before the murder my brother was behaving as usual, speaking little and playing on his phone”, says the 25-year-old sister of the young murderer. “Then he watched some comedy on TV with my father. He kept on asking when we would all go to bed.” Before everyone left for bed, mother and father said to their son that he was not to play on the computer again that night. It was when Yaroslav began to protest that his mother was forced to remove the keyboard from the computer and hide it in her room. The boy made as if he had accepted the decision and went to bed. Then in the dead of night the teenager decided to deal with his “wrongdoers”. Taking a sledge hammer, he crept into his parents’ bedroom and attacked his father right there in his bed. “The teenager delivered the blows through a plastic bag, prepared in advance in order to prevent himself being splashed with blood”, explained the investigating officer Boris Frolov. “He admits to having planned at first to murder his mother, but then feared he would not be able to deal with his father”. via: http://english.pravda.ru/hotspots/crimes/16-04-2010/113053-computer_game-0
After getting the keyboard back the boy continued to play the game "Gothic", which has a correspondingly sinister plot: the characters of the quest fight with the aid of various kinds of weapons – axes, clubs, hammers, swords, and so on.

How much is too much?

Call of Duty (series)
Image via Wikipedia
Let me start this out with this: I like the Call of Duty games....well....most of them! The ones put out by Infinity Ward are great, the ones by Treyarch.....not so much.

Now that that is out of the way: how many times can you rehash the same game? OK, I know...you can rehash Guitar Hero and Mario to death and people will still by the new ones. But come on, FPS WWI, WWII and modern war games, in my opinion, have reached the saturation point. Take the latest Battlefield: Bad Company 2....the first mission in the single player talks about an OP that supposedly took place during WWII, lasted 20 minutes the all records of it was destroyed. Now I am not saying this didn't/couldn't happen, we all know the government always has secret ops we never know about.
